So when I saw this video on Youtube, I was quite intrigued…

The song is Promise by Hirose Kohmi.
When I see a video this strange and this Japanese I tend to look around Nico Nico Douga for answers.

I did a quick search for “ゲッダン” (Translates to “Get Down”, read phonetically as Ged-dan) and found a short animated clip with a character dancing in the same way with the same moves, dated 10/16/08. On their website they usually have comments from the chat section of the page flowing through the video and the video is set to loop. You have to have a Nico Nico account to watch videos on their website so I’ll post the copy from Youtube:

When I sorted my search results (after figuring out the Japanese) the very first video posted with “ゲッダン” in the description was the following video dated at 07/07/24:

So the origin is found! woo! Also, if anyone has more information on it or if they think I’m wrong and they have proof, post a comment with the details.

She’s looks kind of akward singing this song. Really bugs me.

This is somewhat based off of a conversation I had with my little sister. Before I knew that she was reading the series, Twilight had been (and still is) the butt of many jokes in my circles because when I grew up vampires were terrifying, soul-less minions of Satan who easily enchanted their prey in order to suck out every last drop of their hapless victim’s blood (lol, Maxwell House commercial popped into my head). They burst into flames in the sunlight, not sparkle. Twilight’s breed of vampires could hardly be called “vampires”. The thought of having the main character be an emo, misunderstood “vampire” who just wanted to be loved by someone was pretty sickening as well.

When I saw the book laying around the house, I was devastated and demanded to know whose book it was. The comic picks up the story from there.

>_> Lately I’ve been having a hard time watching Skip Beat with a straight face. That is sparklingest anime evar, second only to Earl and Fairy,  and I never really paid that much attention to the sparkles, but now I realize it happens two-three times a scene.

Every anime fan needs to see the youtube video called The American Akira (2011). It reminds me of why I watch anime in the first place. This is a satire of a REAL movie that is in production right now. For those who have IMDB pro click here and for those who don’t, you’re out of luck. I looked around for more information but nothing came up. If someone has a link with more details please post it.

I’m not sharing this video because I’m a weeaboo that thinks everything that ever comes out of the U.S. is total crap. When I’m not watching anime or hentai/yaoi, I enjoy How I Met your Mother, The Office, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Mythbusters and It’s me or the Dog, two of which are originally British but 3/5 ain’t bad! I just don’t like how Hollywood and the media sucks the realism out of everything they touch by harboring the same predictable plots and shallow characters.

Anime has its share of predictability but at least the Japanese entertainment industry allows more quality products to go through the pipeline instead of snuffing them out at the concept level.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m psyched about seeing the live action Dragon Ball Z movie with a coke bottle filled with 1/2 coke and 1/2 Jim Bean.

Michiko to Hatchin- The show starts off with a female bad-ass named Michiko escaping from jail. One thing you’ll notice pretty quickly is that she is definitely not Japanese, that’s because she’s Brazilian. I always think it’s funny to hear characters not from japan trying to speak japanese or speak with an accent. Her accent reminds me of Pedro and his astranged family from Excel Saga, they roll every ‘R’ they speak. Anyone who has taken spanish knows that this isn’t the norm. Although, the creators of the show might have made her speak like that to make her sound like a Japanese street punk because Hatchiko’s foster family doesn’t do it as much. It’s refreshing to see that it is based in a different country, no little airheaded shojo, no childhood friend/love interest, or giant robots that should have easily been destroyed in the first season with a nuke. This looks to be a unique and amazing new anime on par with Cowboy Bebop.

This happens all too frequently for me. Especially the bees. Buzzing around, taunting me. OH GOD! I hear them coming now! The buzzing! The BUZZING!
